Church Introduction
Several families from the Charlottesville area have fully dedicated themselves to actively work as a congregation according to the teachings of Jesus Christ and His apostles. We fully believe that the only answer to the denominational spirit which exists among professed Christians is to let the Bible constitute our only creed and drop all denominational names, titles, creeds, and organizations.
Enter through the Gate
"I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:9–10, NKJV)
An Eternal Perspective
"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” (Romans 8:18, NKJV)
God's Blueprint
"According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it.” (1 Corinthians 3:10, NKJV)
A Light in the Darkness
The creator of this universe is described as “light” and in the Bible “light” is often contrasted with “darkness.” That same image also describes our hearts and how our thoughts are influenced by either “light” or “darkness.” Our thoughts will then determine our direction in life. Will we choose “light” that is God’s thoughts and ways, or will we walk in “darkness” that is in random influences of our relationships?
The Vineyard
If you drive in the country outside of Charlottesville you will see numerous vineyards! When you look closely at a vineyard you see careful and wise efforts made by the owner to grow healthy plants that will produce numerous and tasty grapes. The success of the harvest is no accident, there was a careful vinedresser that provided an environment and provisions that assured growth.
God Does Not Change
"“For I am the LORD, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob. Yet from the days of your fathers You have gone away from My ordinances And have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” Says the LORD of hosts. “But you said, ‘In what way shall we return?’” (Malachi 3:6–7, NKJV)
Fathers Lead Your Sons
"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:1–4, NKJV)
Living Water
"Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?” Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”” (John 4:10–14, NKJV)
